Before Lean was implemented in the Pharmacy, it took Pharmacists on average 33.24 minutes from the time the order was received to the time the order was physically delivered to the floor or the TAT (Turn-Around-Time). In addition, the pharmacy dispensed 281,600 doses with 37 errors.

Within 6 months of incorporating Lean principles and methodologies, the Pharmacists were able to decrease Med order TAT by 34%, decrease med errors by 11% and did it as the doses dispensed increased by 11%. As a result, the pharmacy was able to shave over $400k in operating costs and provide better customer service to both internal and external customers.
